FESTIVAL is . . . a week of exhibitions, competitions, events
at St Mary's Brownedge, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6SP
Festival began modestly in 2000 in celebration of the completion of a major renovation of the church. Though small, it was so successful that it was decided to continue on an annual basis. The first Festival had few concerts but from 2001 there has been a concert every day from Sunday to Friday.
In 2002 Festival marked the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and in succeeding years generous local sponsorship has seen the addition of an open art competition, an amateur photographic competition (both with cash prizes), floral and other displays, workshops and an opera night. There are entry fees for the competitions which carry cash prizes but all concerts workshops and displays are free to enter and view - donations welcome.
